Lyndhurst Trainers Reinvent The Yoga Wheel

LYNDHURST, N.J. — Lyndhurst personal trainer Jessica Morfa didn't invent the yoga wheel, but she says she has made it markedly better.

Her company "Yoga Wheel," launched with boyfriend Michael Taylor, sold 5,000 units in less than a year.

"People love our wheels because we go above and beyond what other companies offer," she said.

It began last March, when Morfa went shopping for her own yoga wheel -- a plastic wheel wrapped in a rubber mat used for stretching -- and was disappointed with what she considered low-quality, overpriced products.

"I wanted one that I could beat the crap out of and still have it be durable," the 30-year-old Lodi native told Daily Voice.

Morfa and Taylor -- who is also a personal trainer -- gathered the best materials they could find to produce the kind of wheel they wanted.

"You don't realize how amazing it feels," she said. "It opens up your chest and releases lower back tension."

The couple's friends quickly took notice. With a little help from social media, Morfa and Taylor were soon mass-producing in their friends factory and selling the wheels for $40 - $75 a pop on their own eCommerce website.

Now they're looking to expand outside the yoga realm.

"The average person needs to have something like this that is so simple yet life-changing," Morfa said. "It is perfect for anybody sitting at a computer all day or who has to stand all day.

"As a trainer I love making people feeling better. I want to make this as widely available as possible."
