NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. -- Northing Arlington "went blue" in honor of World Autism Awareness Day with members of Access for All on Saturday, April 2.
Access For All members replaced the bulbs outside the Senior Citizens building, and borough officials and those affected by autism enjoyed refreshments and raffles.
“One in 68 children will have autism spectrum disorder,” said Councilman Mario Karcic, referring to a Centers for Disease Control statistic. “The borough is grateful for the hardworking people who raise money and awareness and give up their time everyday to bring autism into the light.”
World Autism Month was designated in the 1970s and is celebrated each April to bring attention to the spectrum disorder, raise funds for research and more.
