Club president Mark Shabunia, 30, of Lyndhurst has been working to modernize the club's image and recently updated the beer selection.
The open mic coffee house is one of the many community-based events the club has incorporated this year.
Recent Polka dances, a March coffee house and a food drive were also open to the public.
“A lot of clubs have folded,” Shabunia said in the May 31 Daily Voice. “We’re trying to stay alive by having events, getting the word out there."
Polish American Citizens Club is located at 730 New Jersey Ave.
