EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Looking for a different kind of Friday night fun? At Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment, the star of the show isn't always a horse. Starting this April, an array of made-to-order flavors from across the globe are leading the pack, thanks to the track's first annual Friday Themed Buffet series.

Hosted at Pink, the track's signature dining venue, the buffets will bring the flavors of the world to Bergen County race-goers. Meadowlands will host themed nights showcasing the best in Greek, Chinese, Mexican and Italian cuisine. "Pink is an upscale restaurant and features a top-notch buffet," said Dominick Caiazzo, Meadowland's director of events. "A tiered restaurant, Pink offers panoramic views of the racetrack and sits right along the finish line."

According to Caiazzo, the food at Meadowlands is designed to compete with some of the finest restaurants just over the Hudson River in Manhattan. The expertly prepared dishes also reinforce the newly renovated facility's sense of luxury. "At these buffets, we offer many different items including as a carving station, hot entrees, a cold salad spread," said Chef Dennis Sammarone. "Everything is homemade and prepared to order."

The buffets will begin on April 21 with a kick-off "Fiesta Friday" Mexican buffet, and will continue all summer long. "Meadowlands offers some of the finest harness racing track in the country, and these events offer the food to match," said Caiazzo. "This follows the 'dinner and a show concept,' where the show is the racing. Our entertainment component is much different, and something fun."

For the Meadowland's inaugural Friday Themed Buffet, guests can purchase two seats for the price of one. Doors opens at 5:30 p.m. and the buffet will remain open until 9:30 p.m. Diners will have their seats until the conclusion of live racing around 11:30 p.m. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
