LYNDHURST, N.J. -- Lyndhurst Mayor Robert Giangeruso has officiated a lot of marriages -- nearly 200 -- and he's put the fees to a good use: local scholarships.
The marriages Giangeruso has voluntarily officiated have been primarily to Lyndhurst residents, and he's used these fees for his services to fund the Mayor Robert B. Giangeruso Scholarship. The scholarships go to Lyndhurst High School students who rank in the top 5 percent of the senior class for their academic achievements.
On Wednesday, Giangeruso presented five students with these scholarships at the John C. MacLean Awards Ceremony, totaling $2,500. The five students also received a medal of recognition for their achievement.
