2 Rabid Skunks Prompt Alert In Clifton

CLIFTON, N.J. — The Clifton Health Department issued a rabies alert after two rabid skunks were reported near Orange Avenue.

The report came on June 25 b a concerned resident, who noticed that the animal appeared to be sick, officials said in a statement.

The skunks were picked up by Clifton’s Animal Control Division and tested by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services Public Health Laboratories, which confirmed that the skunks tested positive for rabies, the statement says.
