William Wetzler Jr., 59, was at a coin show in Parsippany last year when the Walther PPK/S .380-caliber handgun in his pocket accidentally discharged, the bullet ricocheting off the floor and striking another individual at the show who did not sustain injuries, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

Wetzler acknowledged in court Friday that he did not have a New Jersey permit to legally carry a weapon, authorities said.

The judge previously had sided with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office in denying Wetzler’s request to enter the county’s Pretrial Intervention Program, which could have led to the charges being dismissed, according to the prosecutor.

William Wetzler Inc. is a coin shop located on The Boulevard, according to Yellow Pages.
