WAVE, Wellness Assessment Van for Elders, will drop by the Lyndhurst Senior Center from noon to 3 p.m. Residents 65 and older will receive physical and cognitive exams, basic health screenings, and an individualized health advice report.

Mary Creaser of Clara Maass said this will be the program's first trip to Lyndhurst. It will also travel to nearby locations like North Arlington, Belleville, Nutley and Bloomfield.

Too often seniors treat their immediate health problems without understanding the causes behind them, Creaser said. This screening should help educate them.

"It's very consultative," she told Daily Voice. "Lots of questions and lots of information shared."

The seniors will sit down and talk for 15 minutes with consultants and leave with a personalized health prevention plan.

The service is free to all Medicare-eligible seniors.
