Beloved Hawthorne Teacher Lynne Vander Veer Dies, 65

HAWTHORNE, N.J. — Lynne (nee Cerra) Vander Veer of Hawthorne died Friday, May 19. She was 65 years old.

She taught at St. Anthony's School for 25 years, and also worked at the Washington School.

Vander Veer was most recently a para-professional at the Jefferson School.

She was an active parishioner of St. Anthony's R.C. Church in Hawthorne, and was a CCD teacher, Youth Group Councilor, and Pre-Cana group leader with her husband.

Vander Veer was a commissioner on the Hawthorne Board of Health.

She was the beloved wife of Gary Vander Veer of Hawthorne; mother of Todd Vander Veer of Wayne, and the late Gary Vander Veer (1998); sister of Janice Tordini and her husband Lou of Jackson; and sister-in-law of Henry Vander Veer and his wife Barbara of Saddle Brook; and Donna Heere and her late husband Ed of West Redding, CT. 

Funeral will be departing at 9:00am on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne for a 9:30 a.m. funeral mass at St. Anthony's R.C. Church. 

Interment will follow at the Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes. 

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Jefferson School PTO or to The Valley Hospice.
