Charles Puzzo, 77, Former Lyndhurst Resident

LYNDHURST, N.J. -- Charles Puzzo, a Sparta resident formerly of Lyndhurst, died on Tuesday, Jan. 3. He was 77.

Born in Newark, Puzzo lived in Lyndhurst prior to settling in Sparta 20 years ago. He was an interior decorator and owner of Chaz Puzzo Painting & Decorating -- known as the "Wizard of Walls."

He was a bass player and singer for the Vagabonds. He also did charity work for St. Lucy's Church in Newark. 

Puzzo is survived by his wife, Rita (Nigro); daughter Lisa Sirica and her husband Salvatore; grandchildren Dionna Marie Cuneo and her husband Chris, and Salvatore and Sophia Sirica; and siblings Anna Arena, Diletta Gerrish and Dolores Ezekian.

He is predeceased by his parents, Santo and Diletta Puzzo, and siblings Josephine Geffery, Steve and Anthony Puzzo.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, at the Santangelo Funeral Home, 300 Main St., in Lodi. The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, then to St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church for a 9:30 a.m. funeral mass. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, in North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family, for funeral expenses.
