LYNDHURST, N.J. -- James J. Tierney Jr., 82, died Thursday, July 14, 2016 at his home in Lyndhurst.
Born in New York City, he lived in Weehawken for 45 years before moving to Lyndhurst five years ago. He worked as a senior mail specialist for Bayer Company in New York City for 45 years before retiring more than 20 years ago.
Tierney proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957-58. He was the husband of Joan E. (nee Driver ); father of James M. Tierney, Scott J. Tierney, Brian E. Tierney and his wife Mei-Anh, Stephen P. Tierney and his companion Elaine Komis and Daniel J. Tierney and his wife Rebecca; grandfather of Leah, Ronan and Maxwell; and brother of Gloria Krieger, Margaret Borga and Patricia Munier.
Thehere will be a funeral at 8 a.m. Monday at the Parow Funeral Home 185 Ridge Road, North Arlington thence to St. Michael's Church, 624 Page Ave., Lyndhurst for a 9 a.m. funeral Mass. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
