Ritanna O'Brien, 93, Lyndhurst Resident

LYNDHURST, N.J. -- Ritanna Marie (Crowley) O'Brien of Lyndhurst passed away on Nov. 4. She was 93. 

O'Brien was born on October 1, 1922, in Jersey City. She graduated from St. Michael's High School in Union City, and late in life attended Bergen Community College. As a young girl she danced professionally then worked in New York City where she was an executive assistant at Pan Am Airways.

O'Brien raised her five children in Lyndhurst, where she lived for more than 40 years. After retirement she taught English as a second language to many adult students and explored interests in Genealogy, where she traced her ancestors back to the 1700s. 

O'Brien was predeceased by her husband, James, and her sister, Janet Wright. 

She is survived by her children, Bonnie and her husband, Rick Patridge, of Paramus and Toms River, Sharon in Clark, Patrick in Maine, and Jimmy and Michael, both of Lyndhurst, and her brother, Jim, of Seattle, Wa. She is also survived by her three grandsons, Chris Patridge, and Conner and Sean O'Brien.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Nazare Memorial Home, 403 Ridge Rd. in Lyndhurst. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, held the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in O'Brien's memory to the Chordoma Foundation at chordomafoundation.org.
