WALLINGTON, N.J. -- Sarah Abrahantes, 83, of Wallington, died Oct. 23.
She was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Manhattan, N.Y., to Charles and Lena (Pollack) Candles. She was raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and was married to Pedro Abrahantes Feb. 17, 1950.
Abrahantes lived in Wallington the past two years; prior to tha, she lived in South Hackensack. She enjoyed singing, swimming, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and cooking, and her family considered her a "professional cleaner" at home.
She is survived by her husband, Pedro Abrahantes; daughters, Joyce Abrahantes and Evelyn Acevedo; and grandsons, Elliot Acevedo and Raymond Almestica.
She was predeceased by her two sisters and five brothers.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Ave., Clifton. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. for a brief chapel service before proceeding to the cemetery.
