ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – Deran Stenborg of Elmwood Park died January 3. He was 45.
Stenborg was born in Hackensack and raised in Wallington, where he graduated from Wallington High School in 1990. He then lived in Wood-Ridge, before moving to Elmwood Park give years ago.
Stenborg owned and operated Armour Pest Control in Wood-Ridge for many years and was very involved in physical fitness.
He is survived by his parents, Diane Demetrakopoulos and husband Harry, and Deran Stenborg, Sr., his daughter, Cassandra Lynn Stenborg, and his sister, Derdra Stenborg. He is also survived by his Godmother and aunt, Sharon Torre and husband Benjamin, and his aunts and uncles, Darlene Liras and husband Andrea, Sharon Guttilla, Lori Verge, Bruce Verge and wife Diane, and Wayne Verge, as well as many cousins. Stenborg is also survived by his girlfriend Lisa and her two children, Nino and Matteo.
He is predeceased by his grandparents, Harriet and Donald Verge, and Thelma and Joseph Stenborg, and his uncles, Donald Verge, Jr. and Anthony Gutilla.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 11, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield. A funeral will be held Friday, January 12, arriving a the Aloia Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9:30 a.m. chapel services. Internment will be at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
In lieu of flowers the family is accepting memorial gifts. The Stenborg family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield (973-340-7077).
