Jan Niemiec, 34, was sitting in the passenger seat of a gold Volkswagen, its motor running, that blocked the driveway of a bar at Hathaway Street and Lincoln Place when police approached him, Detective Lt. Shawn Kudlacik told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Niemiec “had no ID on him,” Kudlacik said. “He was acting very nervously. He wouldn’t take his hands out of his pockets.

“It was a safety concern.”

The lieutenant said he found Niemiec carrying a little less than half an ounce of cocaine worth about $150.

Niemiec, who has addresses in Wallington and Garfield, posted $7,500 bail and was released pending a court appearance on charges of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute the drug.
