"A blunt object was used as a weapon during the killing and was recovered during a search of the scene," Grewal said.

Eric Pleger, 45, was brought Monday morning before a judge in Hackensack who continued his bail at $2 million in the death of his wife.

Luisa (Olavarria) Pleger, 46, had been dead nearly a day before borough officers called by management at the Riverview Gardens apartment complex found her body on Friday and immediately took her husband into custody.

"This was a domestic violence incident," Grewal said as his Major Crimes Unit conducted their investigation at 28-K Garden Terrace.

Pleger remained held in the Bergen County Jail, charged with murder and illegal weapons possession.
