LYNDHURST, N.J. – A Bergen County corrections officer from Lyndhurst was charged with sexually assaulting a girl several times over a decade ago when she was 12 and 13, authorities said.
Alan Carrino Jr., 42, who is married, was being held in the Morris County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Friday, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.
Carrino, who works as a corrections officer in the Bergen County Sheriff's Office, is charged with aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment.
He was arrested by members of the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit at their Paramus office on Thursday after the woman contacted them the day before, Grewal said.
The prosecutor thanked the sheriff’s office, as well as the Tulsa, Oklahoma police department for their assistance in the case.
