BEYOND BERGEN: A homeless Jersey City bank customer was arrested after she came in screaming, then went behind the counter and got into a fight with a teller who tried to calm her down, Port Authority police said.
Syreena Lacewell, 32, was shouting and struggling with two employees who were trying to subdue her at the TD Bank in Newport Plaza when Port Authority officers arrived yesterday morning, the agency’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .
According to witnesses, the 5-foot-7-inch, 160-pound Lacewell came in yelling and then became more irate, “finally vaulting over the bank teller counter and attacking the bank teller, striking his head, causing bruising and lacerations, and threatening to ‘beat his ass’,” Pentangelo said.
She then struggled with the officers before being subdued and taken to the authority’s Holland Tunnel Police Desk for processing.
The bank employee was treated at Jersey City Medical Center before being released.
Lacewell, meanwhile, was being held on $100,000 bail in the Hudson County Jail, charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
