Lyndhurst, North Arlington Police Receive Grants For Bullet-Proof Vests

LYNDHURST, N.J. — Lyndhurst, North Arlington, East Rutherford, and Rutherford police departments received grant money from the Department of Justice to purchase body armor as part of the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Act of 1998.

U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey, D-Harrison, announced 14 area police departments, including 11 in Westchester County are receiving U.S. Justice Department money to buy 201 new bulletproof vests.

NorthJersey.com reports that East Rutherford received $4,364 to purchase 10 vests, Lyndhurst was awarded some $4,361 to buy 10 vests, North Arlington was received $2,736 to purchase six vests, and Rutherford received $2,016 to purchase five vests.
