LYNDHURST, N.J. -- A Lyndhurst officer who helped rescue victims in the Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia last year will be honored with the Officer of the Month Award for 2016 from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, according to NorthJersey.com.
Michael Keane was riding in the last car of the train when it derailed. He was able to get his fiancee to safety before taking a flashlight from a conductor and helped lead other victims out of the wreckage following the derailment, NorthJersey.com reported.
Keane will receive the award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. in May, NorthJersey.com said.
