NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. – Captain for The North Arlington Volunteer Emergency Squad George McDermott recently made his rounds to local elementary schools to read “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
“As I read the story, I encouraged the students to help me finish the parts of the book they knew," McDermott said. "Allowing them to be involved was great. Smiles lit up on the faces of each child as I read the story, and they all jumped out of their seats in anticipation of being a part of helping me finish the parts of the story they remembered.”
The storytime ended by talking about the types of Christmas cookies and ornaments McDermott remembered making as a child, and the students were able to share their own stories about Christmas traditions.
McDermott previously read books by Dr. Seuss to the students during the Read Across America program.
