Barbara Gangi had just left a laundry on River Road about 100 yards from the Belleville Turnpike when she was struck around 6:30 a.m., North Arlington Police Chief Louis Ghione told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, he said.

No summonses were immediately issued. However, both the North Arlington and Bergen County prosecutor’s fatal accident teams were interviewing the driver and a passenger, Ghione said.

CLIFFVIEW  PILOT was withholding her identity pending notification of next of kin.
