A detective bought several bricks of heroin from Merciful Parks, 24, twice over the past month or so before arranging Friday’s meeting at the mall, where he and 28-year-old Jeffrey H. Rincon were taken into custody without incident, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.

The pair had 1,500 envelopes of heroin in 30 bricks, Grewal said.

Parks also was carrying a small amount of pot, he said.

Parks was charged with distributing and possessing heroin with the intent to distribute it, among other counts.

Rincon was charged with possession.

Because he was also wanted on a warrant, Rincon was sent with Parks to the Bergen County Jail pending detention hearings in Central Judicial Processing Court, the prosecutor said.

Grewal credited his staff, as well as DEA, Bergen County Regional SWAT team and police from Dumont, Paramus and Tenafly for their roles in the takedown.
