YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Lyndhurst police didn’t have to look far for a suspect in a Ridge Road convenience store break-in: The man seen on surveillance video was locked up on an unrelated charge a short time later in North Arlington.
James Ryan, 21, of Kearny climbed through a window eight feet off the sidewalk at the AIWA store, Detective Capt. John Valente told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .
His plan apparently was to let someone else in to help with the burglary, but the front door was deadbolt-locked from the outside, so he took off, the captain said.
An officer investigating the break-in recognized the man in the surveillance footage from previous incidents in the area.
As it turned out, Valente said, North Arlington police had arrested him earlier that night on a disorderly persons charge.
Ryan was behind held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, as police continue to investigate his activities that night.
