Security at the Paterson Avenue supermarket seized 22-year-old Javani A. McLean after attempts at buying Visa gift cards with four different credit cards were rejected, Detective Capt. Shawn Kudlacik told Daily Voice.

After police took Javani to headquarter under arrest, they returned to the ShopRite, reviewed surveillance footage and saw him hide the 10 cards, Kudlacik said.

He was charged with fraudulent use of credit cards, credit card theft and receiving stolen property, among other counts, before being released pending a hearing in Central Judicial Municipal Court in Hackensack this coming Monday.
