EXCLUSIVE: A would-be female robber locked the door of a Wallington pizzeria, pulled out a black gun and stuck it in the chest of the owner — who ripped it from her hands after realizing it was a fake and held her until police arrived, along with help from a cook, authorities said this afternoon.

Lacey Gilbert, who turns 30 this Sunday, was being held on $250,000 bail after police said she tried holding up K&J Pizza & Frozen Yogurt with a toy gun colored with a black Sharpie, apparently for drug money.

She was wearing a black coat, beanie, scarf and boots, along with eyeglasses, when she “came in, walked a few steps, turned around and locked the door” around 7 p.m. Monday, Lt. Shawn Kudlacik told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .

“She pulled what looked like a black handgun from her waistband and waved it in the air, then went up to the cash register and demanded money,” Kudlacik said. “Then she poked the owner in the chest with it.”

The owner, who opened the business just last fall, realized it was a fake and struggled briefly with Gilbert as the cook joined the fray, the lieutenant said.

They then held her until police arrived.

Officers picked the toy weapon off the counter and took Gilbert into custody.

Gilbert, who records show has prior arrests in other states, was charged with robbery.
