Sgt Tomasz Kruk found Raheem Martin, 35, of Orange a block from the Hayward Place home after hearing a description of the burglar over his police radio just before 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29, Detective Lt. Shawn Kudlacik said.

Officer Kasper Zielinski discovered a set of keys and a "Planet Fitness" barcode key that was later traced to a gym member whose keys were in a work van reported stolen out of Newark, he said.

Martin was carrying other items stolen from the van, as well, the lieutenant said.

Police charged Martin with burglary and possession of stolen property and burglary tools.

Martin also was wanted on a warrant out of Newark, as well as out of New York State for a parole violation, and is facing drug possession charges out of Bergen County, records show.

Martin was being held on $12,500 bail in the Bergen County Jail with detainers from the other jurisdictions.
