Police responding to a domestic call on Halstead Avenue found the 29-year-old victim from Queens sitting on the front steps, his hand wrapped in a towel, Wallington Detective Lt. Shawn Kudlacik told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

Inside, “there was blood and vomit all over the floor and a door off its hinges,” Kudlacik said.

Officer arrested 23-year-old Leyka Trinidad, who “became belligerent and said she did it in self-defense,” he said.

At headquarters, she “threw a chair in the processing area, kicked a wall and spit at an officer while being placed in the holding cell,” Kudlacik said. “Then she ripped out the camera.”

Trinidad was being held on $150,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with two counts of aggravated assault and with making terroristic threats.

The victim, meanwhile, was treated at a nearby hospital for a 2½-inch gash on his hand.

Trinidad “was staying at a friend’s house,” the lieutenant said. “I’m sure he wasn’t too happy when he came home and found what happened.”
