The Westwood woman was crossing Kinderkamack Road just after noon when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a Midland Park motorist who turned left from Irvington Street to head north and passed over the southbound center line, said Lt. Matthew McClutchy, the officer in charge of the department.

The victim was knocked to the ground, sustaining undetermined injuries to her lower body, he said.

She was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, McClutchy said.

The driver, meanwhile, was charged with failing to stop or yield for a pedestrian, making an improper turn and failing to maintain a lane of travel, the lieutenant said.

She was released pending a hearing.

McClutchy said his officers will be submitting a driver re-evaluation form for state motor vehicle officials to determine the woman’s future fitness for driving.

Responding were Westwood and Hillsdale police, the Westwood Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Micom Advanced Life Support.
