The percentage of registered New Jersey voters who cast a ballot dropped to just 22 percent, showed State Division of Election data published Tuesday, added the Associated Press.

The previous low had been 25 percent for the October 2013 special election for the U.S. Senate seat following the death of Frank Lautenberg, the story said. The low point for a November general election was 2011 at 27 percent, the report showed.
