Angelo 'Sonny' Borrelli, 97, Of North Arlington

NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. -- Angelo “Sonny” Borrelli died at age 97 on Monday, Aug. 31, at his North Arlington home.

Borrelli and his brother, John, were proprietors of North Arlington’s Borrelli’s Sweet Shop for 40 years before retiring in 2007. Prior to owning the shop, Borrelli worked as a machinist for 21 years at ITT in Clifton and at Reliable Machine Shop in Newark for 11 years.

Borrelli served as a technical sergeant and Instructor in the Army infantry during World War II stationed in Florida, Louisiana and Japan.

Borrelli was the son of John and Anna Marie (Calabrese).

He is survived by sisters, Rose M. Borrelli of North Arlington, Ann Notte of Lyndhurst, Eleanor Salmeri of North Arlington

He was predeceasedby sisters Marie McGee and Julie Biancardi; and a brother John Borrelli Jr.

The family held a funeral service on Thursday at Parow Funeral Home followed by interment at North Arlington’s Holy Cross Cemetery.
