Erika Coy, 39, Wallington Resident

WALLINGTON, N.J. -- Wallington resident Erika Coy died Wednesday, Feb. 3. She was 39.

Born in Colombia to Richard and Doris (Gomez) Coy, her family came to the United States in 1983. Coy attended Middlesex Community College, prior to becoming a Hudson County corrections officer. She was an avid supporter of all that is law enforcement and was a member of the PBA and LEO-ONLY.org.

Coy was known to her family as the "Sports Mom in the Shadows," according to obituary information from the Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service. "She could always be found supporting her children's athletic adventures and, more importantly, just spending time with them."

She is survived by her husband, Joey Roman; children Jaylin Roman, Jana Roman, Joey Roman Jr. and Jaela Roman; and brothers Edilson, Mauricio and Cesar Coy.

Visiting hours were scheduled from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave., Wallington. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 127 Paterson Ave., Wallington. A private cremation will follow.
