Cops: Ex-cons pulled Clifton jewelry heist

ONLY ON CLIFFVIEW PILOT: Police in several counties have dealt with the crew accused of robbing a Clifton jewelry store. The one person they have in custody — 6-foot, 250-pound Rockman Hughes — was released from prison in March after serving several months for a burglary conviction. That followed a two-year stretch behind bars, also for burglary, records show.

Hughes, 41, was caught hiding beneath a pool deck on Riverside Avenue in Lyndhurst, about an hour after the 11:15 a.m. holdup of Tony’s Jewelers in Clifton.

Police say Hughes’ 43-year-old brother, Lester, and his girlfriend — believed to be driving the getaway car — were still at large heading toward midnight.

Although Lester Hughes, 43, has no state prison record in New Jersey, 48-year-old Debra Viscel has spent a couple of years behind bars, in one instance for eluding police and resisting arrest.

Like Rockman Hughes, she boasts a host of aliases:

Hartling, Lisa

Richiuso, Angela
