ONLY ON CLIFFVIEW PILOT: A 49-year-old woman whose body was found on the banks of the Passaic River in Lyndhurst on Sunday was taking a form of Xanax — and was under the drug’s influence when she was involved in a hit-and-run last fall, records show.

Officers said the North Arlington mother slurred her words and nearly fell when she got out of her Jeep Liberty after they stopped her on the Belleville Turnpike on Nov. 21.

Inside, police found an empty prescription bottle for Alprazolam, which is used to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks, according to the American Society of Health-System Pharamacists.

They gave her a summons for leaving the scene of an accident and left her in the care of a local hospital.

Her body is in the hands of the Bergen County Medical Examiner. See: Body found on banks of Passaic in Lyndhurst

Alprazolam (al pray’ zoe lam) can be used to treat depression, agoraphobia and other illnesses. Overdoses can cause severe reactions, including hallucinations, confusion, coma and death.

Suddenly stopping to take alprazolam may worsen the consumer’s condition and cause withdrawal symptoms — anxiousness, sleeplessness, irritability, and seizures, among them.
