Lyndhurst First Responders, Salon Owner Save Seizing Boy, 12

LYNDHURST, N.J. — One minute a 12-year-old Lyndhurst boy was slumped on the couch, his face blue. The next he was walking himself out of the township Police Emergency Squad’s rig.

Dolce Hair Design owner Nicole Scott called 9-1-1 when a boy in her store had a seizure Tuesday.

Had the squad not responded to the Tuesday afternoon call so promptly, Dolce Hair Design owner Nicole Scott said, things might have gone differently.

“They responded so fast,” said Scott, who was in the middle of a customer touch-up when she heard chaos from in back of her shop.

One of the children was yelling that her brother was having a seizure.

“I told the receptionist to call 9-1-1,” Scott told Daily Voice. “I also called the Lyndhurst police and they said help was already on the way.”

The emergency squad was there in minutes.

The boy — who has type II diabetes — had already come-to, Scott said, but squad members rehabilitated him fully.

"I am glad that the child is doing better and proud of our squad who always strives for the best," LPES Captain Tarcisio Nunes said.

"But this is only one instance of the good our squad and other EMS personnel do in the area."

The LPES also responded quickly last month when she reported her beeping carbon monoxide alarm, Scott said.

"They amaze me every time," she said.
