Gill has spent his life serving others as an EMS Supervisor at Jersey City Medical Center and Lyndhurst firefighter.

Now others are hoping they can help save him along with his dog Jax, who was being treated for smoke inhalation from the blaze.

More than $4,300 had been raised for Gill as of Tuesday afternoon on a GoFundMe.

Earlier this year, Gill was named EMS technician of the year this year in Jersey City.
