Consider it a Halloween tuneup: Come dressed as your favorite movie character to the grand opening of Hoboken’s new movie house tonight and you’ll be eligible for prizes — provided you’re an Optimum Rewards member.
Clearview bills the 20,000-square-foot theater as a “two-level, ultramodern movie destination with state-of-the-art technology to showcase the many 3D Hollywood films.” Three of its five auditoriums will have stadium seating. Admission is $11 for adults, $9 for seniors and $8 for kids.
It being Hoboken, there’s no dedicated space for parking — which means using one of the area’s pay garages or driving around (and around) until you maybe find a spot on the street.
As part of weekend-long promotions at the new movie house at the 14th Street viaduct, Optimum Rewards members can attend a private 5 p.m. event in which they can a red carpet to the Oktoberfest beer garden for music, games and other activities.
On Sunday, Cablevision’s Optimum Rewards, Clearview Cinemas and the City of Hoboken will co-host “Ultrasonic Super Fantastic Family Day,” featuring live musical entertainment by Brock Storm, along with crafts, activities and games. Kids can play movie bingo, go on pony rides and visit a petting zoo.
This, too, is a private event for Optimum Rewards members.
The first 100 Optimum Rewards members can meet SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick inside the cinema and receive Nickelodeon and Disney giveaways.
To be eligible, Optimum Rewards members must sign up at the Optimum booth by presenting their Optimum Rewards card along with valid photo ID. Newly registered program members can present their e-mail confirmation or registration confirmation page along with valid photo ID.
If you’re interested, this weekend’s features are “Astro Boy,” “Amelia,” “A Serious Man,” and “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in Disney Digital 3-D.”
