A manhunt quickly turned up one suspect, who was hiding under a pool deck behind a Lyndhurst home, police told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. He was identified as 41-year-old Rockman Hughes.

Detectives said the second bandit is his 43-year-old brother, Lester.

Both men apparently jumped into a waiting car near the store, which police believe was driven Lester Hughes’s girlfriend, Debra Viscel, 48, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the manhunt told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Children were kept inside both Jefferson schools in Lyndhurst as a dragnet of officers from various departments closed in on one of the gunmen, who police said had raced off on foot after the getaway SUV was involved in an accident. He was caught by a Clifton cop under a pool deck on Riverside Avenue, Lyndhurst Police Chief James O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
